A good meal does not have to revolve around a single dish. It can also be built around starters, seafood recipes and meat dishes placed in the centre of the table for everyone to taste and share.

At El Cortijo, we see dinner as a time to relax and enjoy good food without rushing. Our location in the heart of Estepona and a menu designed to suit different tastes make the restaurant a fitting choice for an informal evening with friends, a family gathering or dinner for two.

A dinner in central Estepona that begins with sharing

The first dishes set the pace for the evening. For those who prefer to begin with familiar flavours, the menu includes acorn-fed Iberian ham, mature sheep’s cheese and Cordoban salmorejo. These are ideal for opening the meal while everyone decides what to order next.

Alongside them are starters with a more original touch, such as Iberian sausage tartare, Russian salad with tuna belly and extra virgin olive oil mayonnaise, or cod carpaccio.

Croquettes also capture the spirit of food made for sharing. At El Cortijo, they are available with either Iberian ham or pil-pil prawns, offering two distinct flavours that bring together produce from the land and sea.

Andalusian flavours for the centre of the table

Ordering several dishes to share is also a way to explore Andalusian cuisine over the course of one dinner. Marinated anchovies, garlic prawns, crispy prawn fritters and fried aubergines with sugar cane honey bring together some of the region’s most recognisable flavours.

Another particularly generous option is papas arrieras: potatoes served with pil-pil prawns and fried eggs. It is a dish made for placing in the centre of the table, mixing the ingredients and sharing between diners.

Those looking for seafood can also add grilled octopus, fried squid, tuna tartare or tuna tataki. The variety makes it easy to adapt the order to the size of the group and even turn a selection of starters into the main focus of the meal.

Meat dishes to share over dinner in Estepona

Meat plays a prominent role in El Cortijo’s kitchen. Some cuts are particularly well suited to sharing because of their size and characteristics.

The beef ribeye, weighing approximately 600 grams, and the aged beef T-bone allow diners to enjoy different cuts and levels of cooking. Other options include Chateaubriand, beef tataki and steak tartare.

The menu also features slow-cooked dishes with deeper flavours, including braised oxtail, beef short ribs with kimchi sauce and oven-roasted pork knuckle. Any of these can complete a table of starters and become the centrepiece of the evening.

Something for everyone around the table

A shared dinner works best when everyone can find something they enjoy. Alongside meat and fish, the menu therefore includes salads, vegetable paella prepared to order and a vegan burger.

Families can also choose from a children’s menu featuring spaghetti with tomato sauce, breaded chicken, flamenquín or croquettes with chips. This gives both adults and younger diners suitable options to enjoy around the same table.

A final course worth sharing

When dessert arrives, sharing is still a good idea. Ordering several options allows the table to try a little of each: traditional cheesecake, tiramisu, lemon cake, chocolate mousse, brownie with vanilla ice cream or Spanish-style chocolate and biscuit cake.

It is a relaxed way to extend the evening and finish dinner with several different flavours rather than choosing just one.

Where to have dinner in central Estepona

El Cortijo is located at 64 Calle Caridad, in the heart of Estepona. Its central position makes it easy to round off dinner with a stroll through the town centre and enjoy the atmosphere of its streets in the evening.

The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 1 pm to 11 pm, and is closed on Mondays.
